would it be wrong to pray for irony?

maybe you’ve seen this video:

a couple weeks ago, this was put out by our prayerful friends at focus on the family. (because of the backlash, they quickly took it down from their website). wow…yeah… you know, i’m not even going to go into how fundamentally wrong this is and how, arguably, sinful this is (using god and misusing prayer for our selfish and malicious desires), but i wanted to point out a bit of irony.
certainly i don’t want to make out focus on the family as the mouthpiece for the entire republican party, but here we have a decidedly if-you’re-a-christian-you’re-a-republican group of people who apparently didn’t get their prayer answered, yet their convention is in danger of being shut down due to what could be the most devastating hurricane this country has ever experienced. (not that, certainly, i want this to happen…much like the dnc, i’ve been looking forward to the rnc.)
just saying there’s something strangely ironic about this…

i think the phrase you’re looking for is “isn’t it funny how that works?” and then use repeatedly.

  3. carabeth and brent says:

hmmm….in the words of alanis morsissette: “Isn’t it ironic, don’t ya think?”

Oh, God has a sense of humor doesn’t he?
